Privacy and cookies
Short version: we don't ask for your name, we don't set cookies and we don't track you around the web.
Who we are
MTD Signpost is run by Paul Foley, trading as MTD Signpost (UK sole trader), who is the data controller for this site. Contact: [email protected].
The checker and chooser
Everything you type into the checker and software chooser stays in your browser. It isn't sent to us or stored.
Cookies
This site doesn't set any cookies, so there's no cookie banner. If that ever changes we'll update this page first.
Cookies and similar technology
The checker and chooser don't use local storage or any other way of storing information on your device.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). To deliver pages and protect the site, Cloudflare processes standard request data such as your IP address, browser type, time and page requested, and may keep it in short-term logs. We don't use this to identify you. Cloudflare may process data outside the UK, with safeguards in place. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Analytics and search
We don't use analytics on the site. We use Google Search Console to see how the site appears in Google search. It adds nothing to this site and sets no cookies here; it only gives us summary search figures, such as how often a page was shown in results. If we ever add analytics, we'll use a cookieless tool and update this page first.
Links to other sites
When you click through to a software company or GOV.UK, you leave this site and their privacy policy applies. If a link is marked "Ad", the company or affiliate network may use cookies to record that you came from us.
If you email [email protected], the message is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a Google (Gmail) inbox. We use your email only to reply and to fix anything you report, and delete it when it's no longer needed. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: answering your message and keeping the site accurate. We never add you to a mailing list.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Contact [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
